So what’s with the Full Moon?
Anyone else wondering what’s the deal with the Full Moon? Noticing moon rituals show up on your timeline and wondering what that’s about?
Let’s talk about it.
The moon revolves around the Earth and simultaneously the Earth revolves around the Sun. Because of this relationship, the way we view the moon in the sky goes in a cycle. We call it a “full moon” when you can see the moon in its entirety. If you wanna get into more dets of the astronomy NASA has got you covered here.
Before we had clocks and other ways of documenting the passing of time, many communities used the moon cycle as a way to distinguish the passing of time with each cycle taking 29.5 days to transition from one full moon to the next. Across cultures and traditions, full moons were known as a time of both energetic and material culmination. The moon cycle was also used as a way to predict when to harvest crops and when those with wombs in the community were fertile. Celebrations, ceremonies and rituals (depending on culture and context) took place on the full moon to honor these cycles.
For me personally, tracking the moon has been an incredible tool for my healing journey. It’s given me insight into many avenues of my well being, from menstrual health to understanding why certain days I wake up anxious, sad, in need of rest or full of energy for no apparent reason. The more I paid attention, the more I also noticed outside events and shifts occurring on or around the full moon.
Only you can uncover your individual relationship with the moon cycle and determine how the moon cycle may influence your well being or impact what goes on in your life. All it takes is a little curiosity and paying attention.
